Why SearchSpruce Studio
Too many local businesses get stuck choosing between a website that looks good and one that actually gets found. Agencies that specialize in design often treat SEO as an afterthought; agencies that specialize in SEO often hand you a template site that looks like everyone else's. SearchSpruce Studio was started to close that gap — design and search visibility handled by the same team, from the same strategy, at the same time.
The name reflects the approach: Search for the discoverability work — Google, Maps, and increasingly AI search — and Spruce for the idea of genuinely improving what's there, whether that's a brand-new build or "sprucing up" a site that already exists. We're based in Comox Valley, BC, and work with local businesses across Canada.

SearchSpruce Studio is me. When you email, I answer. When your site gets built, I build it. There is no account manager in between, which is the main practical difference between a studio this size and an agency.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University (2025), and I have built and looked after software for two federal government departments here on Vancouver Island. That work has to be secure, properly documented, and still running years later. Your website gets the same treatment.
It is also why this site is built the way it is. I write the code myself instead of dragging blocks around in a page builder. That is why these pages load in under a second and score in the high nineties on Google's own speed test. It is not a boast about my own website. It is the standard your site gets, and you can check both yourself.
On availability, since it is a fair question: the studio is small on purpose. I take on a limited number of projects so each one gets done properly. If I do not have room to do yours justice, I will say so rather than take the work and stretch myself thin.
